Woman owned business,
jam company
As a Colorado branding photographer, I absolutely loved photographing Rachel and her family for these branding photos of her jam company. From the moment I arrived, I could feel the heart and soul behind every jar — this wasn’t just a business, it was a lifestyle, a legacy, and a family affair.
My goal is always to capture not just the product, but the personality, purpose, and passion behind the brand. In Rachel’s case, that meant showcasing the people who help make her jam company so special — her husband, her kids, and the rustic charm of their daily life in the Colorado mountains. This is a family-owned and operated business, so I knew immediately that the whole family had to be part of the shoot. Their story is their brand.

Family business
Every savvy business owner knows that in order to stand out in a crowded market, strong branding is essential. And that includes beautiful, intentional photography that helps tell your story visually. It’s not just about a headshot or a quick photo of your product. Branding photos go deeper — they show the “why” behind your work, the people who make it all happen, and the values that drive your business. It’s about building connection and trust through authentic visuals.
For Rachel, those visuals include sticky fingers, berry-stained aprons, laughter around the kitchen table, jars cooling on the windowsill, and family members working together to prep, stir, label, and seal. These images paint a picture of love, quality, and tradition. Every photo reminds you that this isn’t some mass-produced product — it’s homemade, hand-poured, and full of heart.
And then there’s the name — one of my favorite parts of the whole shoot. The story behind it is as charming as the jam itself. Rachel named her company after a very persistent (and unforgettable) visitor to their home: a cinnamon black bear. “He was just always around,” Rachel recalls with a laugh. “He loved to nap in the ponderosa pine tree right below our house, dig through our cars for treats, and play on the kids’ swing set between naps.”
That bear made such an impression on the family that when it came time to choose a name for the business, it felt only right to honor him. It’s such a perfect example of how personal stories and everyday life can inspire a brand’s identity. And it’s exactly those stories that connect people to your product. Because when customers see your photos, they’re not just buying jam — they’re buying a piece of your story.

Home made Jam
That’s the power of branding photography. It brings your business to life. Whether you’re selling jam, coaching clients, designing jewelry, or running a service-based business, branding photos are your chance to show who you are, what you do, and why it matters.
For small business owners like Rachel, every image becomes part of the customer experience. It’s what shows up on social media, your website, your labels, and your marketing materials. And when done right, it’s what makes people stop scrolling, pay attention, and feel like they know you — even before they’ve made a purchase.
